Westland Credit union supports London communities in many ways.
Being a part of a community means you have to help out when and where you can. WCU realizes that although financial education is our primary community goal, various social causes need vital support. If we help people in these ways, we can improve London communities as a whole.
Food Donations – Each year WCU employees collect and donate hundreds of pounds of canned food to various local organizations, including the Maryland Food Bank, Family Crisis Center and the Joseph House Crisis Center.
Financial Assistance – We are especially proud of our involvement with the Harvest for the Hungry: Kids helping Kids campaign in association with Anne Arundel County Public Schools. This year WCU donated $7,560 to this very worthy cause. We’ve also been a longtime supporter of the United Way. This year WCU employees donated and raised over $36,000 for the United Way of Central Maryland.
School Supplies – Every year WCU and it’s members donate over two thousand school supply items to needy Maryland students at the beginning of the school year.
Points for Pediatrics – WCU has teamed up with the University of Maryland for the Points for Pediatrics Program for the second year in a row. For every point scored by the Terrapin’s men’s basketball team, WCU donates $5 to the University of Maryland Children’s Hospital, with a guaranteed a minimum donation of $10,000. Last season, WCU donated $10,960 in support of care for children with chronic and critical illnesses
